New Lenox Resident Wins ‘Woods Walk’ Photo Contest

Submitted by a Forest Preserve District of Will County.

A unique hawk, a safety plentiful with outside enthusiasts and a stone developed with turtles were winning print subjects during a Forest Preserve District of Will County’s 2014 “Woods Walk” Photo Contest.

First, second and third place photos were comparison from among 123 submitted cinema during a District’s fifth annual contest. Judges analyzed a photographs formed on focus, lighting, composition, impact, creativity and storytelling. The winning photo, submitted by Nicci Allen of New Lenox, depicts a hawk perched opposite a backdrop of a daytime moon during Vermont Cemetery Preserve in Naperville. Allen won a digital print frame.

Allen, who pronounced she worked fast in box a hawk flew away, took several shots from opposite angles with a telephoto lens.

“I desired a fluidity of a branches in a tree and that it all fit together so beautifully opposite a confidant blue sky,” she pronounced of her winning shot.
